I think this resort is one of the best locations in the Puerto Vallarta area, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t my favorite spot. Set between two cliffs and a mountain behind you, it’s just you. Imagine seeing whales and dolphins from your room during Mexico’s amazing sunsets… This is what you can get from the Hyatt PV. It is a family friendly resort, but limitations due to the location on amenities but they will try to keep the kids entertained! They do have some adult only spots, some kayaking off the beach and a great little hike that leaves from the resort. Throw in a private tub on your balcony and you have a wonderful vacation to the Hyatt’s service from the heart!

Secrets Akumal

Location- Akumal area approx 1.5 hours from Cancun airport

Located directly at the Bay of Akumal which boost some of the best snorkelling in the mayan which you have easy access to the reefs that most pay extra to go see! The hotel itself has some beautiful grounds with covered paths through much of the resort. The resort is spread out with couples in mind and the pools are set apart for those looking for quiet to the more lively swim up bar pool. Great service with amazing shows at night that impressed us during our stay. There is a nightclub but I don’t know how lively it really gets but you do have the option.

Secrets Huatulco

Location- 25 km from the airport in Huatulco

This all ocean view resort is probably the best resort in Huatulco in our opinion. There have been some negatives towards the color of the resort like a hospital but I think they have added some color and it contrast the Bay views from around the resort. It is on the lively side with the swim up bar and sky lounge, the sports bar turns into a disco late at night but I think it kind of trails off at that point. The bay has some great snorkeling right off shore which is a great plus… The best part of Huatulco is you are almost guaranteed sunshine, which is kind of what most people are looking for on vacation!

Hilton La Romana

Location- Bayahibe area approx. 1 hour to Punta Cana Airport

The newly renovated Hilton La Romana will soon become favorites with families and couples alike. This resort used to be the Dreams La Romana which had a large following, and the new management just made it better! They have added a water park and split the resort into adults and families which seems to be a popular trend lately!! The beach in this area is one of the best in the Dominican, hands down! The small village of Bayahibe is a neat little stop to go explore and if you are interested the diving in close by, best in the Dominican Republic.

Secrets Los Cabo

Location- About 30 minutes from Los Cabo Airport

This is a very pretty resort. Set on a golf course with some great ocean views. Adults only, in Cabo means there are some rowdy crowds even in the romantic setting. We were there and the night club was super busy but I have heard it can be quiet on other occasions. There is a little spot to head into the ocean down the beach that is not monitored but locals and guest frequent the spot to beat the Cabo heat. Close to the quieter port, but you are able to get out and see some great marine life.

Iberostar Paraiso Complex Riviera Maya (Del Mar, Beach, Maya, Lindo, Grand)

Location- 25km from airport

This 5 resort complex is large, very large on an amazing beach. The Paraiso Del Mar and Beach are the lower level resorts, Maya and Lindo have access to these two others and the Grand has access to all of them. For couples I like the Paraiso Grand, its adults only and you have access to all the other resorts, get the best of both worlds and the best of luxury! The Lindo has the lazy river which makes it popular and we have found the Maya has the best in kids pricing. Tough to find the 2 bedroom family rooms sometimes but seem to be around. We have definitely consider this resort and it may be a great pick for you!

Dreams Dominicus

Location- approximately 1hr away from Punta Cana airport in La Romana resort area of Bayahibe

Beach… This resort is planted on an amazing stretch of beach in the Bayahibe area on the Caribbean Sea. You will fall in love with the contrast of the blues of the sea and white of the powdery sand all with the great family and couples luxury of this property. It misses on a couple of the water features for the family that other resorts have but I don’t think that will hamper your wristband and reservation free vacation! The area is well known for beach and water tours, so get out and see the area while you are here!

Dreams Tulum

Dreams Tulum is located close to the magically Tulum Ruins on a white sand beach that goes on for miles. Snorkel right off the beach or enjoy the 5* service with no wristbands required. The reservation free dining at the 8 a la cartes makes it easy for families to go with the flow of their vacation! Don’t worry couples, the adult only section with swim out suites will keep you included if you are heading in a group or want a nice quiet romantic vacation and put down your phones (even though wifi is included)!

Secrets Maroma

Location- Approx. 40 minutes from Cancun airport

The Secrets Maroma follows the quality of Secrets unlimited luxury brand with the additional benefit of being in one of the nicest beaches in Mexico. Spend the days in lap of luxury and take in the tremendous beach and sea through your relaxing adult only vacation!! This resort is on our radar to visit and we will get there in time, but in the meantime maybe you can experience it for us!

Grand Palladium/TRS Costa Mujers

Adult, Family, Luxury

Location- Playa Mujers approx 45 minutes north of Cancun airport

This newer hotel in the up and coming Costa Mujers built the resort in families and couples alike in mind. The resort is built around a “lake” with boat transport around the resort if you like. The TRS offers an adult only luxury experience in the unique Palladium Costa Mujers which is where I am heading as a couples experience. The “family section” provides everything a family could need in destination and even loft rooms for extra space. A small water park for the kids will keep them going and the baby club is something that isn’t available at every resort which is handy for parents travelling with really young ones!

Secrets Vallarta Bay

Location- 25 km from the airport in Huatulco

One of the best resorts in Puerto Vallarta, this duo with Now Vallarta Bay gives a few more options with the larger resort. As with all Secrets, it is adult-only but also has access to the neighboring Now property. The service is great and the views are something to enjoy throughout your vacation.

Secrets has done it again with this “dual” resort, paired up with the Dreams Playa Mujers. The adults-only Secrets has access to service and amenities on the Dreams side for some more entertaining days if that’s what you are in the mood for! The newer build in the up-and-coming area of Playa Mujers is a secluded spot to reconnect and enjoy the Caribbean Sea. Want to explore, Isla Mujers or Holbox might be a great idea as you are already North of Cancun!
