Don’t forget the kid’s water park for the family and also the spa for the adults!! Riu Jalisco

Location- approx 15 minutes from Puerto Vallarta airport

The Riu Jalisco has been on the radar of many Albertans for the price and time it takes to get to the beach! This RIU has recently added the “party” tag meaning they host an adults only party for guests in other Rius in the area. It is also branded as a family friendly resort which Riu has done to a couple of their properties but to me the party tag and family resort don’t typically jive but for those upbeat families that don’t mind the noise it may work!

Dreams Vallarta Bay

The Dreams brand has the older kids and teens in mind! They tend to be a little on the more upbeat side of things to keep the kids and families going. The kids club has a climbing wall, campouts, games, and turtle release with the teen club having video games, air hockey, and the all so important internet center!! They do lack water slides but great pools, a nice pacific beach, and close to the famous Malecon! There are better resorts for amenities for families but hits on service and quality! The resort does pair the Secrets Vallarta Bay but you would need a day pass to hang out on the adult-only side!

Iberostar Select Playa Mita

Location- North of Puerto Vallarta airport about 45 minutes

The Iberostar Playa Mita was on our list for a couple years and we needed to go, so we took a family group and it did not disappoint. It is almost the perfect resort for groups and weddings with pretty much everything to offer for all crowds without compromising on each experience. This is often our top pick for the Puerto Vallarta area for overall value! The kids have a great spot with a little water slide, adults have the swim up and water volleyball, there is a dive shop on site, surfing if the weather is right and some good food. The only down fall is the beach, its narrow and rocky which gets worse with the tide but the sunsets and pools make up for the lack of amazing beach.

Wyndham Alltra

Family, Romantic

Wyndham resorts are our favorite resort feeling, and we will travel as a couple to them if the timing and price are right as the feeling is comfortable to us. The Wyndham Alltra has the same feeling as you spend your time here. The resort is very nice, has some cool room categories but they do miss on a couple things being family of 5, only JR suites, they do have a apartment condo complex here as well. With that said it can be a great vacation for those looking for the laid back luxury of Wyndham Resorts

Grand Palladium Vallarta

Location- North of Puerto Vallarta approx 40 minutes

The Grand Palladium in Puerto Vallarta area is much closer to Playa Mita area than Puerto Vallarta and situated on its own bay on a hill offers some amazing views of Banderas Bay. Although remote, there is a little village close with a Marina to head out for some water spots if you choose. The resort itself has a family section that will cater to your family needs!!

Hyatt Puerto Vallarta

Location- Approx. 20 min from Puerto Vallarta Airport

I think this resort is one of the best locations in the Puerto Vallarta area, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t my favorite spot. Set between two cliffs and a mountain behind you, it’s just you. Imagine seeing whales and dolphins from your room during Mexico’s amazing sunsets… This is what you can get from the Hyatt PV. It is a family friendly resort, but limitations due to the location on amenities but they will try to keep the kids entertained! They do have some adult only spots, some kayaking off the beach and a great little hike that leaves from the resort. Throw in a private tub on your balcony and you have a wonderful vacation to the Hyatt’s service from the heart!

Royal Decameron Complex

Location- 16 km away from Puerto Vallarta airport

This older family friendly and Canadian favourite that is typically well priced for those looking for a simple getaway. Nothing fancy by any means, but clean with decent service. the location will have you loving the resort with its proximity to the airport and in the cool village of Bucerias They do have an adults only pool near the back of the resort which is nice to get away if you want, also check out the iguana tree… When you go you will see!!

Secrets Vallarta Bay

Location- 25 km from the airport in Huatulco

One of the best resorts in Puerto Vallarta, this duo with Now Amber gives a few more options with the larger resort. As with all Secrets, it is adult-only but also has access to the neighboring Now property. The service is great and the views are something to enjoy throughout your vacation. The location is closer to the heart of the action in this amazing friendly city, giving you some great opportunities to experience Puerto Vallarta. Pair that with the upscale amenities and service from Secrets, this might be the Adults only vacation you are looking for!

Marival Armony Luxury

Location- Close to Punta Mita approx 40km from airport and 45 minutes

The Marival Armony is a new concept for this brand, which they basically blending the fun loving family orientated over view to luxury and nature. They offer up to 3 bedroom suites that can accommodate families up to 7 which is a super rare find this day and age in all-inclusive hotels. They offer kids and teens club which is nice but I think they miss on the kids water park, which maybe an afterthought and I hope they add it into the experience but I do think this newer build, in this great area is still an appropriate Luxury option for people in this category!
